Gordon Brown’s £1,000 present for families



Gordon Brown is preparing to rush through plans for a huge programme of public spending and tax cuts before Christmas. The Prime Minister will claim that world leaders’ agreement
with his ‘fiscal stimulus’ plan is proof that this is the way to kickstart the British economy. Mr Brown has come under pressure from the International Monetary Fund to bring forward a programme worth about £30 billion – or £1,000 for every family.
